India is agriculture based country and in our country agriculture and dairy farming goes hand in hand. Thus, there is anabundance of livestock to be taken care of and hence skilled Veterinarians are always in demand. In India, if we don’t consider the state of Jammu & Kashmir, there are 27 Agricultural Universities which has 40 colleges providing Bachelors courses in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.
Out of total 2726 seats available in the colleges, 425 seats i.e. 15% will be filled with the help of All India Pre-Veterinary Examination. While the state of Jammu & Kashmir is not participating in the entrance examination, some other states such as Haryana, Rajasthan and Manipur are no longer organizing their separate veterinary entrance exam, these states will entirely depend on AIPVT for admission into B.V.Sc. & A.H. courses in their colleges.
To be a part of the examination student should be appearing in or should have cleared class 12 examinations with minimum 50% marks in English, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. The age of the candidate needs to be above 17 but below 25 years at the time of application. Any number of attempts can be made by the candidates till the time they satisfy the eligibility requirements.
As per the admission notification for the coming academic session 2016-17, the entrance examination will be conducted on May 14, 2016 and the regular submission deadline is February 07, 2016 but submission can be done till March 01, 2016 with anadditional late fee of Rs. 750.
The Entrance examination will have 45 questions from each of Zoology, Chemistry, Physics and Botany. The answers of these questions are to be marked on the OMR sheet with the help of blue/black ball pen. The question paper will be bilingual i.e. in Hindi & English. AIPVT will have negative marking and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score.
Application form can be filled online and with these 5 simple steps:
- Fill the Registration Page.
- Fill in the Application Form and note down the Registration Number.
- Upload photo,sign,Parents/Guardians Sign,Thumb Impression & Self Declaration (for students from J&K only)
- Make Payment of Fee through Credit Card/Debit Card/ Net Banking or by e-challan.
- Print Confirmation Page after Successful remittance of fee.
Candidates will be able to download the admit card for the examination after April 14, 2016 from the official website of All India Pre-Veterinary Examination and the result of the entrance exam will be announced in June/July 2016.
Admissions will be offered to the candidates on the basis of their performance in the Pre-Veterinary examination. Prior to the result declaration, answer keys of the exam will also be available on the website so that student can check their answers.
Candidates should retain the following documents with them till the admission process is complete:
- 4 printouts of theconfirmation page.
- Proof of Fee paid.
- Photograph same as uploaded (16 passport size and 4 postcard size)
- Self-declaration form
