Sadak, released back in 1991, was an action classic directed by Mahesh Bhatt, and starring Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt. Now, while the sequel, set to release 29 years later, marking the ace Director’s comeback, doesn’t look as great as its predecessor, the premise and execution still indicate a promising action-thriller, with Sanjay Dutt back in a hardcore action avatar after ages, while Alia Bhatt looks to have put in another convincing performance, well supported by Aditya Roy Kapur. But, what has left us intrigued the most intrigued about Sadak 2 are Makarand Deshpande’s transgender twist on Sadashiv Amrapurkar’s villainous character from the 1991 original, and the assortment of talented supporting actors, including Gulshan Grover, Jisshu Sengupta, Priyanka Bose and Mohan Kapur. The film will premiere directly on Disney Hotstar on 28th August.
BL Verdict: Sadak 2 has all the goods to be a kickass action thriller and a welcome return for Sanjay Dutt to his onscreen macho image.
