When fresh flowers are delivered to you, you immediately have a bright smile on your face. But just after two days, we see the flowers drooping down and that isn’t good at all. It isn’t your florists fault, it’s yours. You should take care of freshly delivered flowers. These are just simple and basic ways to keep them fresh and lasting.
Here are tips and tricks on how to take care of flowers: –
· Keep the flowers far away from drafts and extreme temperatures. This can cause drooping of the flowers and make them dry quickly.
· If they came in a plastic, remove the plastic covering as soon as possible.
· Do not keep the flowers near fruits or don’t let any cigarette smoke go near it. It is damaging to a lot of flowers.
· If you are placing flowers near your windows, then do not do that. Don’t let too much sunlight come on the flowers.
· Usually most of the flowers can last longer under cool temperatures.
· When placing your flowers in a vase, make sure the flower vase is properly filled with a good amount of water. All flower and stems need to be submerged. They stay fresher when they get enough water.
· If the flowers that came by delivery to your house are in a basket or foam container, then add fresh water every day.
· Remove all the dead or wilting leaves as soon as possible from the fresh flowers.
· If the water in the vase gets cloudy, it is time to change into fresh water.
· To keep the flowers fresh for a longer time, dissolve sugar with white vinegar in warm water and add this to the water in the vase. Make sure you cut the stems before doing this. Cutting the stems is very important.
· You can also use some aspirins to keep flowers fresh. Simply crush some aspirins and add them to the water in the vase.
· If a flower is dying from the bouquet, then remove it as soon as you see it.
· Remove all the remaining good and fresh flowers from the vase and make sure to wash the vase well. Use liquid soap to wash the vase to remove all the bacteria from it. Then place the fresh flowers into it.
· Cut the stems at an angle. About one to two inches from the bottom is just right. Use a sharp and clean knife to do so. Scissors could spoil the stems and prevent water absorption so that’s why it is advisable to use a knife.
· Once your bouquet has arrived at home, place them right away in a clean and neat vase. Make sure the size is right. You don’t want the flowers floating in the water.
