Travel Tips For Rome

Have you just decided to travel to Rome and do you want to have the best holiday ever?  You must know that Rome is a complex and compelling city, possessing a lot of attractions of which one more charming than the other. Getting to Rome is the easiest part of your journey, as it is served by an international airport which handles various flights from different continents. Besides, the airport transfer in Rome is assured both of public transport and private transfer, so you have plenty of choices available.


Therefore, let’s see how to get a good start in the journey by planning the first and the perfect day of your holiday in Rome.
There is no better way to start a good day than with a cup of coffee. Bear in mind that time is precious when you are in vacation, thus wake up early in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee terrace of a café before exploring the city. In Rome you have various coffee specialities, from cappuccino and latte macchiato to granita di caffè (a mixture of coffee, ice and whipped cream). One of the most popular and oldest cafes in Rome is Tazza d’Oro, a gathering place for both tourists and locals.

Across the Piazza della Rotonda is the Pantheon, a former Roman temple serving today as a church. That could be a first checked attraction on your list. No far from there you will find Piazza Navona, a large square built on Domitian’s stadium and full of impressive Baroque fountains designed by Bernini. The nearby Church of San Luigi dei Francesi is noteworthy as exhibits some of Caravaggio famous paintings. From there the next stop will be at the Campo de’ Fiori, a square crowded with store and considered one of Rome’s jewels. East of the square is the Ghetto, an ancient Jewish district, and Il Portico, a restaurant where you can find traditional Jewish specialities. From the Ghetto you can easily get to Piazza del Campidoglio, one of the most beautiful squares in Rome. The square was designed by Michelangelo along with other buildings, such as: Palazzo Senatorio, the Cordonata, Palazzo dei Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo.

Behind Piazza del Campidoglio, you can see the entire Roman Forum and in the distance the great and famous Colosseum. The Colosseum is one of Rome main attractions and receives continuously visitors, so that it’s recommended to book in advance the tickets. In this way, you will avoid queues and you can go directly to the entrance. A fare of a ticket is about 16 euro, but on the first Sunday of each month the access to Colosseum is free. Continue to explore the city travelling to Basilica of Saint Sabina, a historical church located on Aventine Hill. Nearby you’ll find the Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta (Knights of Malta), a quiet place yet full of tourists waiting at the entrance. From the Knights of Malta, you can admire in the distance the impressive St Peter’s dome.


You can enjoy the evening in Trastevere, Rome’s medieval neighbourhood.  Here you will find restaurants serving traditional Italian specialities, such as Da Corrado, Dar Poeta, or Bir & Fud. Also, you will find nice bars and clubs to spend long nights.
