Recently the Economist ranked the world’s top 20 cities as the safest cities in the world. These cities were ranked the safest in four categories: infrastructure security, health security, personal safety and digital security. According to the Economist the world’s top 5 cities are:
With the population of around 13.3 million people, Tokyo is one of the most densely populated city. In terms of safety Tokyo is on the first number. When I planned a trip to Tokyo through a reputable travel agent he seconds my choice as the city is digitally, personally and infrastructural wisely secured. Despite the fact that it has the highest ratio of earthquakes and dense population, Tokyo is secure in terms of infrastructure. The city is also recommended as an upper-middle class city. Tokyo has an amazing nightlife, so all those who love to party hard then Tokyo is the place to be.
Singapore is on the second number in terms of personal security the crime rate in Singapore is next to zero; traditional crimes like theft and burglary are pretty low. Singapore has raised the penalties over a decade and since then the crime rate has decreased tremendously. With street crime under control, Singapore now focuses on cybercrime. Singapore is the “City of Lion” with amazing sights to see and activities to do.
This Japanese city is the third on the list of personal safety and is sixth on the list of personal security. Osaka is a pretty rich city as compared to Tokyo and it also ranks on the second number for GDP among the upper and middle income cities. The city is not relatively comparable with Tokyo for digital security. Overall, Osaka is a pretty exciting city to visit too, and gives a great insight of the Japanese culture.
The capital of Sweden, Stockholm is considered as the safest cities and is on the fourth number of the Economist list. It is considered the 10th in health security and the seventh in digital security. It is the only non-Asian city which has made way in the top five lists for personal security. Like many other European countries Sweden is also considered the top in healthcare security.
This city as a population of 820,000 people, it is known for its legal marijuana, but has an amazing infrastructure security and is considered as the safest cities of the world. This city is dominated by high income cities and upper middle income cities; it has the lowest rate of traffic violations and car accidents. Amsterdam has a magnificent culture and has some interesting sights to offer for its visitors. It also ranks on the 10thnumber of personal safety.
