Everyone knows how well jewelry cases can help to promote your jewelry and other precious items to your customers and when done correctly, the effect can be very powerful. However when it comes to jewelry cases there’s always the question on whether you should make your own or simply go out and buy one. The former can be a fun and entertaining little side project and the best thing is you get to determine how it will look like.
Get some Plexiglass
If there’s one sure thing about jewelry cases it’s that they are very fragile and prone to accidents so the best way to avoid this is to build your glass out of Plexiglass. This will help to protect it from scratches or dents that can be potentially caused by dropped object shitting them, etc.
To determine the size of the Plexiglass that you need, you must first understand what are the sizes of the jewelry cases that you are trying to make. Don’t make the mistake of buying glass that is either too big or too small to fit into your case itself.
Cutting the plexiglass
You may think of making non-square or rectangular jewelry cases in an attempt to try and make it look even more fancy than the regular run-of-the-mill jewelry cases. While this is definitely ambitious it also requires a lot of caution. Having a pair of steady hands will help too. To cut the glass according to the measurements you’ve decided upon, you should use a brand new band saw that is easy to sue and will give you cleanly sliced cuts of glass. As an alternative you could also use a circular saw.
Once the glass has been cut, you will need to carefully sandpaper the edges so that they do not damage your jewelry cases when they are being fitted in. However you don’t have to be a genius to understand how risky this part of the process is. Sandpaper when used on the wrong surface of the glass will leave a permanent mark.
Gluing everything together
Gluing is considered the hardest part of the process due to its complexity. Although you don’t have to accurately estimate how much glue you will need, always err on the side of having too much as opposed to having too little. All you really need is enough glue to hold all of the separate pieces of your jewelry cases together. After this you are almost done, as you will have a proud standing jewelry cases that you originally made on your own!
