Homecoming On Festivals

The most striking difference between the western culture and our Indian culture is the belongingness towards our family. Even after decking our streets and home with lights modernity, we still feel courteous towards our elders and kind and considerate towards younger ones. We are still so much connected to our roots that it is unimaginable for the western society to ever achieve it. In some ways, they lead a really independent life so they understand the business of money better than us. For example, any teenage of 18 years is adult enough to start working and staying away from family. But in our Indian context, a boy/girl of 18 years is just about to enter college to pursue higher studies and pocket money is still provided by caring parents.

Now as per our upbringing, we always tend to be connected to our near and dear ones. So, even when some of us have to stay outside for professional reasons, we always look for excuses to return home. And as our Indian calendar is marked with various festivals all around the year, we get ample opportunities to come back home and relish our time with near and dear ones. Our friends and family staying at home are the ones for whom we fight with this big bad world and manage for vacations. Success is something for which we often have to pay a price. Who doesn’t want to get recognized for their talent? But often times, especially in this highly competitive world, people have to cross boundaries and work really hard to fulfill their dreams. This painful longing is actually important to remain more connected to your loved ones. Because on homecoming around festivals, each and every day of your vacation is filled with extreme pleasure and joy.
For all the NRI’s, the most targeted festivals on which they book a flight ticket to get back to home are: Diwali, Holi, Dusshera, Rakhi/Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Chaturthi, Christmas, etc. Apart from social events like marriage, birthday, and anniversary, these festivals also demands gifts. But in today’s highly technical world, you can send rakhi online to your brother who is seated miles away from you. On Diwali, you can easily send diyas, idols of God, and sweets to your loved ones across the globe.

The definition of distance has been cut short with the online shopping explosion. Your homecoming is no doubt still awaited by your native people but it’s when you really cannot reach your home even on important occasions like rakhi or diwali, you can easily buy rakhi online. Your presence to these festivals would definitely add more glitter and glamor to the atmosphere but when you cannot return, you have to make sure that at least a part of you is returning home via these lovely gifts.
