Beginners Guide: How To Choose Domain Name, Domain Extension and Finding a Registrar

A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners: Choosing Domain Name, Domain Extension and Finding a Registrar in Order to Plan and Build Your Own Website Successfully For Your Marketing Needs…!!

Once you know the business niche you wish to pursue the first thing you will need to do is to think about the name of your website i.e. Domain Name. But then the question arise how should we choose the name of domain?

So, Here We Are Discussing That How To Choose The Good Domain Name.

1. Make sure that your domains are as exclusive as possible, as there are running to be many other websites that have names analogous to yours. For example if your website is “abcsolution.com” and someone else owns “abcsolutions.com” and “abcsolution.net”, you may find that your potential visitors may end up visiting your challenger instead. The exclusivity of a domain name is one of the things that make Twitter, YouTube, and eBay such successes, as no one had domain names a little related to these sites when they first launched.

2. Underused type of domain name – “Your Name”. A good reason to get YourName.com is to prevent someone else from using it. Even if your name doesn’t mean anything to anybody so far, we’re certainly hoping it will eventually as you gain attention. If you write and submit articles, press releases, contribute to blog posts or forums, you most likely sign your name not your business name. See, already you’re gaining notoriety.

3. Make certain you are not breaking any Copyright Laws. Unfortunately the burden is on you and you need to conduct a fairly comprehensive search. Employ the search engines also the federal trademark database.

4. Keep in mind that your domain name will be more helpful if you can keep it a long time and build the reliability of that site over time. It requires representing your business on the Internet.
So, your primary concern is promoting your brand name.

Choose a Domain Extension

At this point you’ll have a range of domain name extensions to choose from. A domain name extension is the letter combination to the right of the domain name itself after the period.

Below is a list of the more popular extensions and what they mean.

·         .com is the most popular and important extension for those selling on the Internet, yet it is also the least available

·         .ca Short for “Canada” also available, .uk (United Kingdom), .nl (Netherlands), in (India) etc. These are country specific extensions

·         .biz Short for “business” – created as a supplement to .com addresses

·         .org Short for “organization” – designed for use by non-profit making organizations such as charities and clubs

·         .net Short for “network” – originally designed for use by Internet Service Providers

·         .edu Short for “education” – designed for educational organizations
