Little children learn best through demonstrations. If you tell them verbally why Easter is celebrated, they will probably come up with ten more questions only for your explaining capacity to drain out. We have the most elaborate ways you can celebrate Easter with your little one with some informational demonstration. Hand over the Easter basket for kids to them only after they learn their lessons!
Tell the Easter story through resurrection eggs – Pre-made sets are sometimes available in the market, but you can also make them yourself. Small objects can be gathered to tell bits of the Easter story. Fill them in plastic eggs, and then every day, your little ones can, turn wise, open an egg each and pick out an item and place it on a shelf. On the last day, to bring in some excitement, put in some chocolates inside the eggs. Hide them and let the little one locate the Easter egg baskets.
Eastern garden at home – Easter is always incomplete without decorations and the focus of the decoration is the Easter decoration. Let the garden be Green with elements of spring and avoid eastern bunnies of course! Your children will help you in making the garden, especially because they love to play with dirt, which will be used to make the garden. Let your little ones decide which flowers they want in the garden. The atmosphere will be like that of Christmas when the entire family together decorates a Christmas tree.
Until Easter, make a new dessert every Sunday – Let the children in the kitchen and with their help, try out a new dessert every Sunday. They can help you in more than one way, from arranging the ingredients to simply suggesting a better taste. Or even better, bring out a few ingredients and see which child turns out to be a master chef!
Light 3 candles – On Christmas, a usual wreath of 4 candles is lit. For Easter, you can light 3 candles. 3 will represent the number of days Jesus spent in the grave and the three crosses too. The candles can be of purple colour to represent Christ as the King of kings. On the Good Friday, let the candles be black and on Easter morning, let them be white. Children learn the best through observations.
Decorate the Easter eggs – This is a tradition being practiced for years. You can buy Easter baskets and then fill it in with decorated eggs, the work done by the little ones. They are so creative and thoughtful; they sure will decorate better than you.
Celebrate Passover – It takes hard work to prepare for Passover, but your children sure don’t want to skip this tradition.
It is very important to educate the young mind about the history of celebrating various festivals. Partaking in celebrations without knowing why they are rejoicing is only a sign of uninformed parents. So, this Easter, have fun along with the kids with some interesting educational tour on the festival. Wish you a very HAPPY Easter 2016!
