4 Compelling Reasons To Consider A Vegan Lifestyle

Numerous bodies of research are highlighting the health risks linked to consuming meat, dairy, and eggs. Instead, it highlights the benefits of a plant-based diet. Numerous experts agree that becoming vegetarian or vegan can help you live an optimal and longer life. Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about lacking protein in a vegan diet since you can always supplement plant protein.

Minimise the risk of cancer

In 2015, red meat was identified as a carcinogen meaning it probably results in cancer in humans. The World Health Organization identified processed meat such as bacon and pepperoni as top carcinogens to humans. It is on the same level as tobacco smoking and asbestos.

Even tiny amounts of these can increase your risk of cancer. A study from earlier this year found that eating just three pieces of bacon per day can increase your cancer risk by as much as 20%.

Many experts also believe that dairy is also a carcinogen. Many cancer survivors believe that plant-based diets help put their cancer in remission.

Mitigate the risk of heart diseases

In many cases, the meat will have high amounts of saturated and trans fats, increasing the blood’s cholesterol. Cholesterol can result in fatty deposits in the blood vessels, which enhances the risk of stroke and peripheral arterial disease and cardiovascular disease. In contrast, plant-based nutrition has zero cholesterol. A diet that is high in fat and cholesterol can cause high blood pressure, which also results in heart diseases.

A study found that consuming red meat might increase the risk of heart diseases by as much as 1000% more than plant protein nutrition.

Minimise the risk of diabetes

Mounting research finds that a plant-based diet could mitigate the risk of developing diabetes or even reverse the occurrence of diabetes altogether.

Recent studies have shown that individuals who increased their consumption of fruits, vegetables, and nuts over two decades mitigate their risk of developing type II diabetes by as much as 60% more than those who did not.

Improve your mood

Another study looked into the eating habits and moods of over 3000 people over five years. The study revealed that participants who ate a plant-based diet had fewer symptoms of depression.

In another study, it was found that vegetarians have more positive moods compared to meat-eaters. Long-chain fatty acids, which are present in meat, are typically associated with depression symptoms meaning you are less at risk to suffer from it if you eradicate meat. Vegan diets will also have more complicated carbohydrates, which help increase the feel-good hormone serotonin chemical in the brain.

For a long time, it has been considered that meat and dairy are critical parts of a healthy diet. But recent studies have proven that it is the opposite. In many cases, people who are under 65 years old that consume meat regularly are nearly four times more likely to develop illnesses such as cancer and diabetes. Some studies have concluded that regular consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy hurts your health and can be as bad as smoking cigarettes. The reason is meat contains saturated fat as well as cholesterol, bacteria, and synthetic hormones. It is also possible for a person who eats meat to gain extra amounts of weight and strain their heart.
